I have always chased artistic work: children’s sweater design, recognition award design, and perhaps the most creative job of all, sleepaway camp counselor! Photography unites my passions. Working outdoors brings me immense joy. I am happiest tramping about to discover the beauty in the snow, on the seashore, and in the woods. I love the adventure of going somewhere new and the chance to photograph something I have never seen before, but I also treasure the infinite and equally valuable possibilities waiting to be discovered in my own backyard. I am fascinated by the potential of using the camera, the most realistic of tools, to create abstraction—whether it is bringing forth the hidden geometry in a blooming flower or blurring the ocean at sunset to reduce it to its core of color, movement, and light.
